3 ounces doesn’t seem so small until you’re desperately rummaging through your medicine cabinet at 2 am the morning of your flight in an attempt to pack your carry-on. And products never seem so large until you’re scouring the fine print to find their volume.
We’ve all been through the stress while going through security that something, somehow, bigger than those mere 3 ounces slipped into our tote, only to be ripped away by agents in a dramatic public display. Although stores conveniently sell an array of specific travel-size products, it is hard to let go of your beloved cucumber facial cleanser or lavender chamomile lotion even for just a weekend getaway. Below I have listed just a few of my favorite, go-to travel beauty products that you can toss into your bag without a wrinkle of worry. Whether you are looking for something to rehydrate or reinvigorate, this list covers all bases of miniature products. Don’t let a pesky size limit hold you back on looking your best no matter where the destination takes you.
1. DryBar Detox Dry Shampoo Mini ($13) found here
One of the most inevitable parts of flying is the greasy hair that follows afterwards. Regardless if you’re on your way to an important business meeting or going to crash at the hotel, DryBar’s Dry Shampoo is one of the best, quickest fixes to all your grease problems. Along with absorbing oil and other deterrents, it leaves hair feeling airy, clean, and voluminous. Definitely a no brainer to have handy, especially at just 1.4 ounces.
2. Burt’s Bees Pink Grapefruit Facial Towelettes ($5.99) found here
Burt’s Bees has long been known for their line of simple, Earth-friendly, and pure products. Whether it’s a smear of hydrating lip balm or rub of velvety hand lotion, Burt’s Bees products are rarely a disappointment. As someone who’s skin dances between normal and oily on a day-to-day basis, the facial towelettes, particularly infused with grapefruit, do just the trick to cleanse away any troubling oil, dirt, and dead skin. I would be lying if I said these towelettes have not become one of my foremost staples in a carry-on.
3. Milk Cooling Water + Sunshine Oil Set ($24) found here
Although I am relatively new to the line of Milk products, the Cooling Water + Sunshine Oil kit has quickly become a favorite. The duel-powered serum battles both cheek and eye puffiness, all while leaving a fresh, dewey afterglow. The two-step process leaves your skin invigorated and radiant after the harsh air of the airplane cabin. With so much power packed into only 0.3 ounces, I would be crazy to travel without this product in reach.
4. Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment Advanced Therapy ($26) found here
There is no denying that dry and cracked lips are unpleasant and outright painful, but unfortunately they can do a lot of damage to the thin, fragile skin that lines the outer layer of the lips. On top of the common sources of chapped lips, like winter, licking them too much, or acquiring some unwanted UV rays, airplanes are also notorious for parching your lips because of the lack of moisture in the air. A product as simple and rich as Fresh’s Sugar Lip Treatment Advanced Therapy is exactly what will take care even the brittlest of lips.
5. Mario Badescu Aloe, Cucumber, and Green Tea Facial Spray ($5) found here
I have already praised Mario Badescu’s Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater Spray in a post and the Aloe, Cucumber, and Green Tea Facial Spray falls right next to it. This powerful green trio is everything necessary to cool and refresh sensitive and tired skin, along with added benefit of antioxidant protection provided by the green tea. This product is a must have for me both mid-flight and post-flight to keep my skin and pores under control and thriving.
6. Philosophy The Present Clear Makeup ($30) found here
Of course flying affects everyone’s skin in different, specific ways but when it comes to hopping of the plane bright-eyed and ready to conquer the day, the Philosophy Present Clear Makeup is the product I immediately turn to. When a full face of makeup isn’t on the day’s adgenda, The Present delivers an airbrused, pristine glow to any skin. Wonderful at masking wrinkles, pores, and any and all fine lines, this is my go-to product at only 2 ounces for a clean, simple no-makeup makeup look.
7. The Honest Company Hand Sanitizer Spray ($5.95) found here
A trip to the airport is not all the way complete without touching something communal that you would have really preferred not to. In the event of a dirty door handle, lock, or television screen it has never been easier to scoop out scented sanitzer spray to erase any ick. The Honest Company Hand Sanitizer Spray is available in three soothing aromas including Lavender, Lemongrass, and Orange. With each individual bottle only measuring in at 2 ounces, it is never hard to keep clean on the go with one or two of these mini bottles tucked away in the tote.
